Hats off to Bob Hickman for his Ginsters-inspired Xmas fly. You can tell he's really pushed the boat out not with one fly - but two. And each one is subtly different.
If you look carefully, you'll see the patteren on the left is designed to catch rainbows (can you see the distinctive pink flash along the pastie's flank?)
While his second creation (bottom right) is clearly aimed at a brown trout. Just look at those markings!
Christmas hats off to Martin Bedford for submitting this year's first entry in the Festive Fly Competition. In case you hadn't guessed, it's a red-breasted robin sat on a piece of holly above a red bauble. Unbelieveable!
You couldn't make it up! Last year we held the inaugural Meon Springs Festive Fly Tying Challenge. The aim is to to tie a festive-themed fly ideally with Xmas-themed stuff. Anyway, last year's comp was won by Martin Bedford and Ron Wilder who even caught fish using thier festive flies. Can anyone do better?
