The Fluffchuckers Championship is a popular fishing challenge that takes place four times a year. This annual competition tests the expertise of anglers throughout the year with each season presenting its own challenges.
It's also one of our most sociable competitions giving anglers the chance to meet others, sit down over something to eat and revel in the banter of friendship.
Details on the day
You should aim to arrive for 9.00am, so that you have enough time to tuck into a bacon roll and cup of tea or coffee, to set you up for the day.
The competition starts at 10am. If there are enough people taking part the competition will be pegged in the morning and free roaming in the afternoon. Lunch is served at 12.15pm.
Each competition has its own seasonal flies:
Spring Competition: dry flies and nymphs
Summer Competition: buzzers
Autumn Competition: daddies
Winter Competition: any fly
The rules are pretty straightforward::
Each of the four seasonal competitions can be won in its own right, the winner receiving a Two Fish Ticket to be used when you like.
Top prize for the series winner has yet to be decided.
Fluff Chuckers' 2015 - report
Autumn Competition - Saturday 10th October 2015
Congratulations to Aki for winning the final autumn Fluff Chuckers' Championship at the weekend. However, since the Championship is spread over all four events, it was Ron Wilder who accrued the most points, beating Andrea Smith to the title by a cat’s whisker.
Summer Competition - Saturday 18th July 2015
The Summer Fluffchuckers - which was a buzzer only competition - was won by Andrea Smith, who caught a total bag weight of 19 lbs 9 oz for four fish plus a 3 lbs bonus for catching a brownie.
Spring Competition - Saturday 11th April 2015
Our second Fluffchuckers Championship went well, although was more challenging for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the fly was restricted to nymph only - this combined with a late fish delivery made it hard work. On the flip side, all competitors fished extremely well, with over 75% bagging up.
Winter Competition Report - Saturday 10th January 2015
We had a highly successful Winter competition, with 13 people catching 52 fish. The winner was 'Two Rods Ron', who was proudly presented with a two fish ticket prize. Being Winter, there was no restriction on fly type for this first competition.
